Ruth Gavin
Artist Bio
Ruth is a Melbourne based artist with a focus on traditional realism and portraiture. She predominantly works in oils, and also produces works in charcoal, pastel and pencil.
Ruth’s interest in art started at a very young age, and with the encouragement to explore the face and human form, this led to a strong interest in portraiture. The focus of Ruth’s work seeks to observe and portray the mystery and depth behind the human persona.
Ruth has been a finalist in a number of Australian Art Prizes, having been awarded People’s Choice, Highly Commended, and Hanger’s Choice.
Ruth also has a Degree in Graphic Design, and has undertaken various forms of training in Illustration.

In joining Possum Portraits, I am blessed with the unique opportunity to produce such a lasting and meaningful gift. My portraits often come from a deeper place of sentimentality, as will these works. It’s an honour to be able to put my creativity towards assisting parents and families in their healing process.
